Motorcycling has always appealed to this feisty Slovenian. And now, only a few years after getting her licence, she has set up her own business offering biking tours across Wales.
When Laura Smith’s dad Dave passed his motorcycle test when she was a young girl, she eyed his bike enviously, wishing she could ride herself one day. Despite this early passion, she never would have dreamed that she would eventually make a career out of her love of biking.
“One of my friends says that she has known three versions of me: Caroline 1.0 before the accident, Caroline 2.0 afterwards and Caroline 3.0 now.”
For Andreea Maciuca, becoming a lady biker was something of an act of rebellion. She spent her formative years in the Romanian capital of Bucharest, where stereotypes at the time still prevailed about a woman’s place being at home to cook, clean and look after the children.
